Art by Mark DesLauriers
As an artist, my work is deeply rooted in a lifelong exploration of texture, color, and balance, an evolution shaped by my dual passions for culinary arts and visual expression. My career as a chef taught me the power of presentation, the artistry of arranging ingredients on a plate to create harmony that delights both the eye and the palate. This sensibility has seamlessly transitioned into my creative practice, where I compose visual "dishes" that celebrate the richness of form and hue. In my art I strive to evoke a sense of place and sensory connection. Through layered textures and dynamic compositions, I aim to create a visual feast that invites viewers to immerse themselves, much like savoring a beautifully prepared meal. Balance, whether in flavor, color, or form, is a guiding principle that bridges my artistic and culinary worlds.
